In their "signings & bookings" news, Variety just announced director of photography Jeff Cronenweth will be shooting David Fincher's new film, "The Social Network".
Awesome news -- considering Cronenweth was the DOP behind Fincher's stylish and dark visual masterpiece "Fight Club" ten years ago!
My guess is we already "know" the rest of the crew: Angus Wall & Kirk Baxter (editing), Ren Klyce (sound design), score will be a tough nut to crack, though...
Cronenweth is cool, but I was hoping for a Fincher/Emmanuel Lubezki feature~length collaboration, given the recent commercials work they've done. Oh well, maybe next time...
I was also hoping for Emmanuel Lubezki to be the DP of this movie, that would spice the project up for me. But that's complaining on a high level, Jeff Cronenweth is a top notch cinematographer IMHO.
Excellent stuff, I'm a massive fan of both Cronenweth's!
ReplyDeletethat's news worthy of the fight club anniversary!
ReplyDeletegreat news! and i hope fincher works "digitally" once again to further enhance the medium and teach us a thing or two along the way.

ReplyDeleteHowever lame the story might be, it will certainly be beautifully shot.
ReplyDelete...sounds like the review of any Tony or Ridley Scott flick...
ReplyDelete... xcept tony scotts films have a lame story and are not beautifully shot. it's just a long music video
ReplyDeleteRidley Scott is God.
ReplyDeleteIs there a god?
ReplyDeleteIt's great Fincher works again with cronenweth, but i don't understand why Fincher doesn't work any more with James haygood. Does some body know ?
