James Vanderbilt Interview - WGA

“I honestly think part of being a writer is that you deal in dark shit so you don't bring it out in your real life. I'm a pretty happy-go-lucky guy because I can deal with dark shit and get it out on the page and not have it follow me home.”

Well, that is certainly one way of looking at being the screenwriter and producer on "Zodiac". In this interview from the Writer's Guild of America, James Vanderbilt (IMDB-profile) offers some great insight into dealing with the complexity of the Zodiac story, his collaboration with David Fincher and his experience of pushing through a tough ending.

Very good read. I hope we will find a similar interview next year for writer Eric Roth and the work on "Benjamin Button" ...

  1. It is almost certain that TCCOBB's coverage will be massive, mainly because of Brad Pitt.

But one can only hope that they think of us "technical fans" as an important part of the whole thing, and provide us with some insightful articles and interviews comes november 2008.

    The cheering starts now.
