Fincher & Palahniuk @ Comic-Con 2014

Anything DvH is posting is worth noting, obviously, everyone should have that figured out by now. But this item you simply must not miss: An event titled "Fight Club: From Page to Screen and Beyond" would be worth attending anywhere in the world. But it's happening at this year's Comic Con, and I'd say they tapped, uhm, just the right guests...

© Chuck Palahniuk / chuckpalahniuk.net

"Chuck Palahniuk (Fight Club, Choke, Haunted), director David Fincher (Fight Club, Seven, The Social Network, and Gone Girl), Gerald Howard (Doubleday executive editor), and special guests discuss the seminal novel's journey from book to film and beyond. Moderated by Rick Kleffel (TheAgonyColumn.com)." 7 p.m. to 8 p.m, Room 25ABC.

That's right, cancel everything else and go there! If anyone will be able to attend, make sure to take some snaps and report here for the rest of us hungry brains. Thanks Daryl, this sounds fantastic!

  1. "What's that smell?"...it's the aroma of Prof. Laurence F. Knapp shitting his slacks!!

    1. I find this very much uncalled for, and wasn't expecting it from you, to be honest. Feel free to disagree with anyone's assessments, or even their tone. Nonetheless, Mr. Knapp has taken a considerable amount of time for a fincherfanatic exclusive interview, and I encourage you to show some respect.

      What was your point anyway??

    2. No disrespect intended at all FF. Clearly the Prof is a hugely articulate FC fan, and sees it as a seminal work of our modern times. I was merely suggesting that this event tonight would excite him greatly. And illustrating it with the Durden 'death' quote. I myself was at a similar state of...excitement upon reading the news. As I said, no disrespect intended at all. To anyone.
Perhaps the humour is lost in translation??

    3. No worries. I do think it is helpful you clarified, though. Maybe the humor did get lost in translation, at least on me it did. Thank you for checking in again.

So isn't this event like... today??! I hope someone will be there and drop us a detailed report... Sounds so awesome!

    4. Tonight's the night. Ends at 8pm local time. Really hoping we get a complete transcript or, better yet, an AV recording. I'm not sure how locked down these Comic-Con panels are.
Wondering too who the 'special guests' might be.
Meanwhile Chuck P will also be signing some exclusive Ltd Ed FC blu-rays made by Fox for SDCC (cool cover, same content). Also available at Foxconnect (US only, dammit) ~

  3. A more or less official recording would be ideal, but I guess we can expect a couple of them from the audience.

And thanks for the 4K trailer. I was looking forward to it.

  4. Thanks. Too bad they messed up the aspect ratio. Still it looks like a completely different film at this resolution. Stunning quality. Show that to Chris Nolan and he will convert to digital ASAP ;)

  7. They've fixed the wrong display aspect ratio of the file. But probably re-encoding it, cause now it's smaller: 481MB
