In a joint statement Prime Minister and Arts Minister said that casting decision and location were yet to be confirmed.
The securing of this film is a huge coup for the Australian film industry and for the near 1,000 local businesses that will be providing goods and services for the film.
Disney has yet to confirm the information which would be major news for all Fincher fans out there.

ReplyDeleteFincher is in final negotiations with Sony Pictures to helm the continuation of the Spiderman franchise. Garfield will his reprise his role as Peter Parker, also the film is said to revive classic spiderman villain Dr. Octopus. "Doc Oc is just amazing and he has like four arms so that should give us a lot of nuances to explore which Sam [director Sam Raimi] hasn't bothered to," reveals screenwriter Skip Woods.
In a statement released this Monday, director David Fincher says he is "super excited" about the prospect of revisioning the beloved comic book hero for a new generation once again and will try to "stomp the third act action set pieces of every blockbuster you have seen in the last two decades."
SPIDERMAN CONTINUES is rumored to begin production June 3 for a summer 2014 release. Co-producer Michael Bay insisted the film to be shot on 35mm, and to be post-converted to 3D."

I know it's not the prevailing opinion, but I'm actually glad. I could just never see this as a good fit for Fincher. Deluded fool that I am, I still hanker after a 'GDT' follow-up. Failing that, the more I read about 'Gone Girl' (short of reading the actual novel) the more I think it could be a really interesting direction for DF.
Looks like Disney is putting all their money and focus on Star Wars. Well, right now any project news will be a good news. And I said it before, another thriller... is fine by me ;)
