Dragon Tattoo opening a week ago in the U.S. with box office results below expectations, one could wonder indeed if Fincher was misunderstood. Blame it on bad timing (''Feel bad movie of Christmas' really?), M.I.5 competition, or the Swedish original being too fresh in moviegoers' minds. Who knows...
It's probably too early to comment on the box office since let's remember the thriller was mostly a Euro book sensation before being imported to the States. So let's wait for the foreign grosses, shall we?
I think [Fincher's] wildly misunderstood, kind of like the character.

Also make sure to check out this week's Entertainment Weekly magazine :
That shot of Lisbeth walking through an office building is IDENTICAL to one from the HP commercial (the one with The Who's "Baba O'Riley" playing) that Mr. Fincher directed a few years ago. It wouldn't surprise me if it was actually the very same building or set! (Some L.A. office building, probably).
ReplyDeleteThat's my two cents, since I still have to wait a few days to be able to see the film.
True it's looks a lot like the HP commercial. Bay also remaked his own movie (Bad Boys car crash re-used in T3), so why not Fincher :-))
ReplyDeleteBay also remaked his own movie (Bad Boys car crash re-used in T3) Actually it was Bay`s The Island that was used in Transformers 3. Not a big issue, but I for one , really loved "The Island" for what it was. A big summer blockbuster movie, That looks really amazing.(if you are into that sort of thing)
