You Know How They Say ...

... that the Golden Globes are a good indicator for next year's Academy Awards? Well, in this case the nominations-list of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association isn't a terribly good sign ...

In this list also the leading contenders for Best Motion Picture Drama, among others, are "Michael Clayton", "No Country For Old Men" and "There Will Be Blood". Best Director nominations include familiar names like Tim Burton, The Coen Brothers and Ridley Scott, as well as ... who is Julian Schnabel?

To make long stories short, the Golden Globes see not one single nomination for David Fincher's "Zodiac", but -- the Satellite Awards do:

The Satellite Awards are not quite as popular as the Golden Globes -- that's my personal impression -- and may or may not be an indication at all for next year's Oscars. This year's Satellites are awarded by the International Press Academy on the 16th of December and their list of nominees sees three mentions of "Zodiac".

Brian Cox for "Actor In A Supporting Role Drama", James Vanderbilt for "Screenplay, Adapted" and Harris Savides for "Cinematography". Wow, at least that is some honorable mention of the film, if not in the categories I dreamt about. Let's see what will happen.
