You know what's fucked? When you're like me, a fincherfanatic, and this 2014 was dedicated to anticipate Gone Girl and your government decided that Gone Girl is not appropriate and they ban the movie. Yup, right. I live in Indonesia and want to kill myself.
You must be strong to watch "Gone Girl" from an alternative source, maybe one day leave the country or even fight politically to overthrow a stupid government who treats their subjects like children, not responsible citizens.
But, this cencorship thing has been a real issue in my country. This March the cencorship people decided not to show Noah because it's different with our - by our I mean they're - knowledge regarding Noah. Islam is the main majority religion here, but it's not like we do things differently. We're fucked up people also.
And right now, Gone Girl. They like to do this. If the movie talk about bad things like religion, bad human behaviour, or anything sexual, they will ban it. They're so afraid that we will copy that kind of behavior. The truth is being a politician in our country have the same degree of respect like a prostitute.
You know it's my pleasure, especially with you, to whom I feel indebted. And I'm just a happy link of a chain of people collecting and sharing information.
And yeah, it’s been a pretty hectic Fincher month and the next one looks the same.
I am truly sorry friends, but I was not able to go to the BAFTA Fincher event. Close family illness meant there was just no way that I could go. I trusted somebody to help me out for one day, but they let me down, again, and I missed out. I can't even begin to tell you how devastated I feel. I really needed this, after a pretty shitty couple of months, and was counting on it to get me through what's almost certainly going to be another couple of shitty months. I can't even bring myself to read anything about the event right now, and even seeing those few tweets had me in tears. Dumb, huh? I knew that it would be a great night, a once-in-a-lifetime deal, and life just fucked me over, once again. I had an e-mail from BAFTA the day before saying that the event would be filmed and it was due to last for 90 minutes. Perhaps we'll see the full thing one day; it'll be awhile before I think I could stand to watch it, knowing that I should have been there. I'd even bought a tiny digital audio recorder to record and transcribe/upload the full event for FF.com. Again, all apologies. FUBAR
Simon, so sorry that you've been having a terrible time lately. I hope things look up for you soon. Please don't feel like you owe anyone on this website anything because at the end of the day family comes first.
Oh man... I'm so sorry for you Simon. You don't have to apologize, we all understand. And don't beat yourself down, more opportunities like this will come. I'm sure of that.
Damnit, so sorry to hear that. Sorry you are having a bad time and I hope things will turn around and look much better much sooner than you are expecting. Buy an extra ticket to "Gone Girl" to soften the loss. No need for apologies whatsoever.
