"Gone Girl (...) unearths the secrets at the heart of a modern marriage. On the occasion of his fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) reports that his beautiful wife, Amy (Rosamund Pike), has gone missing. Under pressure from the police and a growing media frenzy, Nick’s portrait of a blissful union begins to crumble. Soon his lies, deceits and strange behavior have everyone asking the same dark question: Did Nick Dunne kill his wife?"

Easter Egg
I haven't verified this myself but absolutely do take fanatic contributor Torrence's word for it: If you dial the number advertised on the billboard in the trailer, you get to hear an excerpt from the "Gone Girl" audiobook. Great find, thanks for letting us know!
Looks like another classic movie from David Fincher ;)
ReplyDeleteFrom what I see it follows the book to the letter... and the book was awesome :)
It's interesting that you say that because one of the few criticisms that I've heard said by Fincher about the Dragon Tattoo movie was that he felt like they stayed to close to the source material.
DeleteI've also read Gone Girl and feel the same way about the trailer (that overturned stool in particular stands out to me)... not that it's a bad thing. I'm more interested in how big of a change Mrs. Flynn made in the screenplay to the third act. I'm a big fan of her other novels too and just the fact that they made the decision to change Gone Girl's script is exciting, and puts me back to when I first read the book, with no expectations of what's coming up (something that I feel most adaptations suffer from - the unknown). Can't wait for the Oct 3rd.
I think they will tweak the pacing of the third act, they will make it more tight. But I hope that the climax and resolution of the story stay pretty much the same ;)
DeleteIs it possible to hear that particular excerpt? I'm from Croatia. :)
ReplyDeleteTurn on 'Immigrant Song' during the trailer for an epic mix! Awesome!

"David Fincher cast Rosamund Pike for the leading role in Gone Girl because she was an unfamiliar face. Not for long."

She's no longer a Hitchcock Blonde. She's a Fincher Blonde ;)

Good god, the 5.1 Audio on this sounds astounding. Pure Klyce class! Watched on my home set-up last night, rather than just on-line. 'She' sounds gargantuan.
DeleteOut today in UK (and via iPad) 'Empire' issue #300 including 7page feature on 'Se7en'. Ian Freer had a sit-down sofa interview with DF at his WeHo HQ. He also opened up his personal archive of 'Se7en' production material ~ photos, storyboards, props, scripts, etc. VERY cool article.
ReplyDeleteSounds amazing! Need to search for this in hardcopy though. On the cover it says, it will be the "June edition". So it should be out soon. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteRead it this morning. It's mainly stuff he's already mentioned in other interviews e.g. Studio didn't want head in a box, studio didn't want Kevin Spacey- because he was too expensive. Hopefully Fincher will do a Gone Girl feature in the future.
ReplyDeleteA set visit or a Making of by Nev Pierce...
