Sony Pictures just released the 3'45" full trailer for David Fincher's "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" ...and it's a beast. Oh, hell yeah!

Who the fuck ever said the Swedish accents would suck in the film? Mara does a great job and with Craig I couldn't even tell. Damn that trailer is fucking amazing!! Just fucking amazing!
ReplyDeleteThe feel to this is just amazing. Great music ofcourse, the feel of Sweden I`m positive Fincher has capure better then anyone else could. Mara accents sounds great,she really nailed it.

Holy shit Rooney nailed it... nailed it. This will be a magnificent performance. So far it looks like everything works, acting, cinematography and my God the music ;) Another perfect Fincher movie. Yes!

My First impressions (if anybody cares ;-)
ReplyDeletethe trailer gives away too much of the plot, and is a bit too long. Zodiac's was much more mysterious and elusive.
That aside, perfect editing as usual and music sounds great.
I loved the way the music is building up tension, on and on, and then by the very end they have these inserts as they did in the teaser: A David Fincher Film based on the bestselling trilogy and so forth. As I know the swedish film, I didn't care how much plot they would reveal. Didn't bother me at all. Great trailer! I like it!

ReplyDeleteOK, let me play devil's advocate: why would swedish people speak in English among themselves??
ReplyDeleteFact #1: There is no point in them talking in English other than this is an American film.
Fact #2: Since it doesn't make sense for them to be talking in English, why would they need to speak English with "a Swedish accent" which is to say, as if they can't speak it properly?
I'm not going to let this hopefully minor detail spoil the film for me, but I find it disappointing because it doesn't seem in keeping with Fincher's habitual zero-BS sensibility.
Other than that, I'm already looking forward as far ahead as to the next two book adaptations.

when will they show the 8 minutes version?
joining the chorus, it's amazing. and with a 3'45'' trailer, i don't think they will show the 8' version. this is quite unusual already. fincher must have pulled a few strings to put this online.

ReplyDeleteThink I have watched the trailer 15 times now...Will let it rest till we have a download of it in MKV format with 5.1.sound from "Mikez the man" I hope:) Something about the colour in the apple trailer that don`t look like it should. The teaser in Mkv format was spot on with colour like S.Network was shot, and looked totally Fincher with his us of Red cameras.
"The Maltese Falcon" was remade in 1941 and is widely consider the superior to the original 1931 version.
ReplyDeleteHis Girl Friday is also a classic that was remade from a movie from a 1931 movie titled "The Front Page."
Douglas Sirk's "Immitation of Life" is a remake which is also widely considered a classic. The list goes on and on, Ben Hur was remade form a early silent era movie, the point I am trying to make is 1) Fincher isn't doing anything that is unsual by today or yesterday's standards. 2) Directors, writers, actors, cameramen, etc, etc can bring breath new life into a previously existing story.
Will Fincher's version of TGWTDT be a classic? Only time will tell. What I do know is that the original films are not classics and I have no qualms with Fincher fucking with the ingredients.
