More Dragon Tattoo Details

The Hollywood remake of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" with David Fincher occupying the director's chair is making huge waves, considering this project is still easily waved off as gossip. Now long-time Fincher collaborator Brad Pitt reportedly voiced interest to play a leading male role.

Hitfix ran a piece summing up the current status of the remake: with screenwriter Steve Zallian (Schindler's List, Mission: Impossible, Gangs of New York) reported to be just about to hand in the first draft of his adaptation, and Brad Pitt anticipating this script to make his decision.

IMDB currently lists "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"

for a 2012 release date. The article in Hitfix and other places sees the film hitting theaters in december 2011, with parts 2 and 3 of the trilogy being shot back-to-back; but probably not directed by David Fincher.

Well. I guess it's safe to say nothing is "directed by Fincher" other than the films he already directed, and "The Social Network", which will hopefully put out a trailer soon. It's all rumors after that!

Here's a couple of great reads:

IndieWire: Script Due June 1

  1. Pitt is always best in a Fincher movie. I hope this works out. Not like Fincher doesn't have other options... lol.. I saw the Swedish original here just a couple of weeks ago and gotta say, I'm confident Fincher can improve on that. The Swedish movie is pretty good by the way. Is just that Fincher is Fincher. If the writer does his part and they cast the right girl, this can be way awesome! How bout Miley Cyr(c)us? Hahahaha

  2. That's a grand overstatement to say Pitt is always best in a Fincher movie. He was a lot better in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford than in, say, Benjamin Button.

  3. I actually don't want Pitt in this movie. Lately Pitt's performances have seemed very lackluster to me. I loved Inglorious Basterds and Benjamin Button but Pitt was the weakest link in both the movies. I miss the Brad Pitt who gave us Tyler Durden.
Edward Norton would be interesting and it would be nice to see Fincher and him work together again. Or Leonardo Dicaprio especially if they cast Natalie Portman in the role because I think these two could have great chemistry.
